DOCTRINE OF BEREAN BAPTIST CHURCH

THE BIBLE

We accept the Scriptures as our authority in matters of faith and practice. We believe the Holy Bible is the infallible, verbally inspired Word of God.

(II Timothy 3:16-17; II Peter 1:19-21).  1611 King James Version

GOD

We believe there is only one true and living God, who is infinite and holy, the Maker and Supreme Ruler of Heaven and earth and worthy of all confidence and love.  We believe that in the unity of the Godhead there are three persons: the Farther, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

(I Corinthians 8:6; I John 5:7) 1611 King James Version

JESUS

We believe that Jesus Christ was God's only begotten Son conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, sinless in His life, making atonement for the sin of all who believe, by His death on the cross.  We believe in His bodily resurrection, His ascension into Heaven, His high priestly intercession and premillenial return to the world according to His promise.  We therefore give Him the pre-eminence as our Divine Lord and Master.

(John 1:1-2; John 5:20; Matthew 1:20) 1611 King James Version

MAN

We believe man was created by the direct act of God, in innocence, and in the image of God.  Man fell from that state by voluntarily transgressing the revealed will of God, and therefore is under just condemnation to eternal death.

(Genesis 3; Romans 5:10-19) 1611 King James Version

SATAN

We believe the Devil is a wicked personality, the author of sin, the greatest enemy of God and mankind, and we believe in the "lake of fire and brim stone" will be his final doom.

(II Corinthians 4:4; Revelation 20:10) 1611 King James Version

HOLY SPIRIT

We believe that the Holy Spirit is a Divine Person working harmoniously with the Father and the Son in salvation and in all the purposes of God.  It is He that reproves the world of sin, of righteousness and of judgement; He regenerates, sanctifies, and comforts those who believe in Jesus Christ.

(II Corinthians 13:14; John 14:16-17: John 16:7-11) 1611 King James Version

SALVATION

We believe man has no merit or power to save himself from condemnation of sin.  Salvation is by the grace of God through faith in His Son, Jesus Christ, who on the cross paid the price of man's redemption.

(Acts 16:31; Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5-7; Romans 10:9-13)1611 King James Version

SECURITY

We believe that it is impossible for a born again child of God to be lost.

(John 10:28-29; Philippians 1:6; II Timothy 2:19; Romans 8:35-39) 1611 King James Version

THE CHURCH

We Believe a local New Testament Church is an organized body of baptized believers equal in rank and privilege and brought together by common faith in Christ as Savior.  The church's scriptural officers are the Pastors and Deacons; whose purpose is to carry out the commission to preach the Gospel and teach believers; to take the New Testament as the only rule of faith and practice; to exercise the right of independent self government.  We believe that a New Testament Church is only a local, visible company of believers (called out ones) in Jesus Christ.

(Matthew 16:18; Acts 1:8; I Timothy 3:1-15) 1611 King James Version

BAPTISM

We believe scriptural water baptism is the immersion in water of a saved person,  baptized in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit by the authority of a New Testament Church.  Scriptural baptism shows forth, in a solemn, and it shows our death to sin and resurrection to a new life.  It is a pre-requisite to church membership.

(Acts 8:36-39; Romans 6:3-5; Mathew 28:19; Acts 2:41) 1611 King James Version

THE LORD'S SUPPER

We believe that the Lord's Supper is a memorial of the Lord's death, the bread symbolizing His broken body and the fruit of the vine symbolizing His blood.  It is to be done "in remembrance of me". (Luke 22:19) 1611 KJV

"For as often as ye eat this bread and drink this cup, ye do show the Lord's death till He come". (I Corinthians 11:26) 1611 KJV

The Lord's Supper is to be observed only by the Church to commemorate together the atoning love of Christ.

JUDGEMENT

We believe that Jesus Christ will personally,  literally return in the air to gather all born again believers unto himself and to judge them for rewards.  He will then return to earth with the Saints to establish HIs throne in Jerusalem and reign on earth for one thousand years.  After the thousand years are finished, He will sit in the "Great White Throne" to judge all unbelievers and will cast them into the "Lake of Fire and Brimstone", where they will be punished forever and ever.

(I Thessalonians 4:13-18; Revelation 20:11-15) 1611 King James Version

RESURRECTION

We believe in the resurrection of the bodies of the dead, that born again believers who sleep in Jesus will be raised at the coming of the Lord for His Church and will be caught up with the transformed living saints to meet the Lord in the air, and that the wicked dead will be raised at the close of the Millennial Kingdom and will stand in their bodies at the Great White Throne of Judgement to receive their final doom.

(John 5:20-30; I Thessalonians 4:16; Revelation 20:11-15) 1611 King James Version

CHURCH AND STATE

We believe in the absolute separation of Church and State and that each individual has the right to choose his own religion without coercion by any.
